The History of the Bell...

old brewery

The Bell has a long history in Devizes. It may date back the early 16th century however this is unconfirmed.

We do know that the pub existed as the Bell Inn in 1861 and was owned by the the Wild family who also owned the adjacent brewery (WILD & CO).

The Bell Inn being the first inn on entering the town from London attracted many travellers who soon learned that this was a fine place to stay with good food served on fine silver and good beers from the brewery.

The Wild Family remained the proprietors until 1902. Both pub and brewery were sold to Wadsworth & Co on the 16th of November that year and have remained with them to the present day.
